Everyone has that one theory they’re absolutely convinced is true. Occasionally, we all stray from the generally accepted facts and – when we’re eventually proved right – it’s an incredibly satisfying feeling. While these theories typically revolve around the mundane aspects of our day to day lives, there is the occasional theory that goes a little deeper. When we move away from the ordinary and towards the powerful, the influential, and the important, these theories begin to take on an additional level of significance. When you suspect that more than one person is involved and is perhaps trying to hide the truth, you’ve uncovered a conspiracy theory.
But the idea of the conspiracy theory has, in recent years, taken on a negative perception. With many people quick to dismiss these theories as being strange, convoluted, and the product of people with too much time on their hands, they can often be one of the best ways to peel back the veil of miscomprehension and look closer as the actual facts in any kind of circumstance. While most people expect every conspiracy theory to link the Military Industrial Complex to the Illuminati, some are far simpler and far, far better supported by the facts.
In this book, we will examine some of the forgotten theories. We will look closely at those theories that run closer to the reality of modern life. These will include some of the most important events of the last century and some seemingly more trivial theories. However, the key tenants of each case remain the same. In each, the theory suggests that there had been a deliberate attempt to cover up the truth by a collection of individuals working toward a hidden, sometimes sinister goal. Read on and find out more about the world’s strangest forgotten conspiracy theories.

The World Strangest Forgotten Conspiracy Theories edition by Conrad Bauer Politics Social Sciences eBooks

Well, there was only one conspiracy that I'd never heard of, and the rest aren't forgotten. I'm not a conspiracy theorist myself. In fact, I believe most of the people who believe in them are nuts. I do believe in the Japan thing though. It's always made a great deal of sense to me. I know a few people who believe in chemtrails, but for me they're just contrails. Prism has already been proven. I would have enjoyed this much more if this had been about conspiracy theories that have been proven true. Still, a book I would recommend. It kept me entertained.

The World Strangest Forgotten Conspiracy Theories edition by Conrad Bauer Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews

Wasn't sure how this was going to play out, but I was impressed with the tone and information contained in this book.
Some very interesting examples. A fun short read. Nice writing style and the writer does not add to much of his on opinion and ideals to the theories.
I have always been interested in conspiracy theories, as many people are. They are usually interesting and thought provoking. The theories included in this book are of the same vein. I found the Phantom Time Hypothesis extremely interesting. I had never heard of it before reading this book. If true, imagine how it could change the world as we know it! Of course, I had previously heard about some of the theories but it was a great way for me to get a better understanding of them. The information included and the details provided cleared up some of my understanding about the theories. And the ones I had not heard of before were fascinating!

I appreciate the author's inclusion of the Further Reading section at the end of the book. For those of us who are searching for more information, it's a great place to start.

The book was well written and organized. It even includes an excerpt from another of the author's books which I am very interested in reading.
I recommend this book.
I'm a skeptic but I LOVE a good conspiracy theory. The title of this book enticed me. FORGOTTEN conspiracy theories? Since modern history is so full of conspiracy theories--from who "really" brought down the World Trade Center to Who "really" shot JFK, I was curious to know what some of the stranger conspiracy theories of the past were. And the writer both DID and DID not deliver. I've never heard of the "two Babylon" theory and I had no idea that there are people who see something sinister in jet plane contrails. (It's a government conspiracy to spread bad things among the populace.) But then the author got into the conspiracies I do know something about, the idea that the electric car was "killed" by the car companies and that AIDS was created as a biological weapon, and I found myself disappointed. Bauer really doesn't give readers much context. In the chapter entitled "The Lost Cosmonauts," for instance, he talks about some famous recordings made by brothers that purport to have captured the last words of dying cosmonauts. These dubious audio recordings are available on the internet, and they are haunting. (Yes, I've listened.) But rather than develop any more info on that line, Bauer turns to the story that the man who was REALLY first in space (not Yuri Gagarin) accidentally crash-landed in China and was held prisoner for a year. There's actually--according to the author--some evidence that this is true and I would have loved more. Like a photo of the man? Ultimately, it felt like there wasn't as much in the book's chapter as you can find in the "Lost Cosmonaut" entry in Wikipedia.
Also the title is a bit misleading. One of the conspiracies in the book revolves around whistle blower Edward Snowden. The PRIZM allegations and Snowden's allegations fueled a huge paranoia spike--not that long ago. it's unlikely that it's been forgotten.
This is a brief introduction to a half-dozen conspiracy theories that has a curiosity value but doesn't delve deep enough. (And in at least one chapter, there's a distracting number of typos.
i am really appriciating the author The book was well written and organized. It even includes an excerpt from another of the author's books which I am very interested in reading.
This is a wonderful book to read. Most of the conspiracy theories in this are kinda out there in terms of believable, but they are still very interesting to read.
I enjoyed this book because I have always found conspiracy theories fascinating. We don't truly know what happens behind historical events and they provide a good perspective in educating us with good research and honest writing. The author seems to be passionate about it as well, that is another reason I feel it is well worth the read
